The inner legs have a serpentine edge. There is a good area for burning and the fire retains the original curved front bars. The fire back has a diamond design registration mark dating the fire to March 1853 (Y=1853, W= March). The fire is in very good condition but has some light signs of wear and age, as expected of antique items.
The iron has some small marks and knocks. The top plate is a modern metal replacement as the original was missing.
There is some light surface rust to the grill. The concrete back has some fire putty visible on each side within the fire opening. The back of the fire has surface rust.
