Pair of Original Coalbrookdale Cast Aluminim & Oak Laths Nasturtium Pattern Garden Bench. If that pattern originates between 1842 and 1867 (due to the 1 in the pattern code) as for the cast iron production, these very benches are from the end of 1940s when after war Coalbrookdale produced some Aluminium version of their original pattern.

If the cast iron command a higher price, it is very rare to come across a matching pair of these. The aluminium version is lighter to move, doesnt suffer corrosion the same way as the cast iron and is less prone to break, hence our choice.

Those benches have been carefully dismantled, shot blasted to remove the multi layers of paint (I have original pictures of them, as well as work in progress) and hand painted (3, to 4 coats) with a period colour egg shell outdoor paint (Mylands) to keep the original spirit and tone. The laths have been replaced with brand new oak ones, lightly dyed and coated with an UV resistant matt lacquer (to avoid weathering and preserve the aspect in time).

The fittings are now brass to prevent any corrosion. They have been restored to a high standard and no time, or expense was spared. They have never been used and have been stored indoors since restoration completion. Touch up paint can be included.
