Antique C. 1850 J&J Siddons Cast Iron 4 Gallon Hanging Cooking Pot/Cauldron & Lid

An Antique J&J Siddons Cast Iron 4 Gallon Hanging Cooking Pot/Cauldron & Lid. This was made between 1850 - 1900 in the Victorian Era by Joseph & Jesse Siddons in West Bromwich. They were founded in 1818 and are still in operation today as an Iron & Steel Foundry. This Wonderful Large Cast Iron Cooking Pot holds 4 Gallons 32 Pints! And has a Hanging Handle with a Point in the top so it can be held in a stable position when hanging above a fire.

The Pot is made from Cast Iron and is a Substantial Weight (10kg) whilst the Lid is made from Good Quality Tin with a Handle on the Top. It has a Height of 25cm (45cm to top of Hanging Handle), Length of 36.5cm (43cm including handle brackets) and Width of 29cm. It has no holes or cracks - a couple of small dents in the pot and the handle has a crease in the middle but is still sound (shown in photo 12). This could be used as a Planter, as part of a Large Fireside Display, on an AGA to cook from etc.
