For sale is this exquisite, fully restored antique arts and crafts cast iron fire surround from the turn of the century. It is a rare and historic item in the distinctive design style of arts and crafts pioneer Charles Voysey. It carries the foundry mark of the London foundry famed for producing Voyseys work, Thomas Elsley Ltd.

Reclaimed from a Warwickshire country property, the fire surround has been professionally stripped, protective coated and burnished to bring out its original character. Authentic in every way, it is made of solid, heavyweight cast iron in excellent condition for its age, undamaged with a beautiful patina. As with most of Voyseys architecture, the simplicity of design and tall, gently splayed facade is what makes it very attractive. The traditional cast gives it a beautiful finish and the ironwork is proportioned perfectly. The simple geometric lines of the body complement the exquisite bars, ash tidy and original mantle shelf.

As with all of our restorations, it may bear the odd very well concealed mark from the restoration work but this is extremely well done and simply adds to the character of the item in our view. It has mounting hoops on the reverse for discreet and safe installation. 121.5cm high (bottom of feet to top of mantle). 81cm wide at the mantle.

72cm wide at outside edge of legs, narrowing to 63cm. Inner aperture 67cm high to top of arch. The rear projection of the inner frame of this fire surround is 3cm so it will fit best over an opening.
