This is a stunning original Victorian fireplace and surround from the late 1800s. In keeping with the most desirable British design of that era, it is composed of a wooden surround, a decorative cast iron fireplace with a grate, and tiled inserts. It would make a beautiful period feature in any living room.
The condition of the cast iron fireplace is excellent. Minor sanding would be required to bring the wooden surround to a perfect condition, and there is minor plastering required to smooth over the crack at the back of the grate. Small imperfections are inevitable with fireplaces of this age, but very minor effort would be required for a complete restoration. Any defects are shown clearly within the photos. Dimensions: Overall wooden surround: 130cm wide (at widest point on top) and 116cm tall.Metal fireplace: 91cm wide and 97cm tall (partially covered around the edge by the wooden surround). Middle metal section above grate: 47cm wide. Please note that the hearth in the photos is not included within this listing. All other items, including the surround, grate and tiles, are included.
