For sale is this exquisite, large, fully restored antique cast iron fire surround from the late Victorian / early Edwardian period. Reclaimed from a large period property in the Home Counties and cast by the famous Falkirk foundry of Scotland, whose name it bears on the foundry marks, it is stunning. Fully functioning and beautifully preserved, it is a striking yet simple piece. With no rear projection, it is perfect to go over an existing chimney breast opening or against a flat wall. A classic late Victorian/ early Edwardian period piece, this fire surround has been professionally stripped, cleaned, protective coated and polished to bring out its original character.

Made of solid, heavyweight cast iron, the whole thing is in excellent condition for its age with a beautiful patina. During restoration we replaced the mantle shelf. The final look is stunning, as the pictures show.

As with most period fireplaces of this type, the richness of design and quality of the ironwork is what makes it so attractive. This particular example features gorgeous floral swirls across the frieze and around the body, typical of the period. It has been fully polished and coated for protection. The finished article really will add class and quality to your property. There are discreet mounting lugs just under the shelf for simple and safe installation.

Inner aperture 81.5cm high. Rear projection of the whole thing is 0cm, making it a great choice for fitting either against a flat wall, over an insert or over an existing opening. If you are local to us, your item can be collected in person from our home workshop in Wilmslow, Cheshire (SK9 postcode). We will assist you where possible in loading. If you are installing a heating appliance in your home, it is your responsibility to ensure that you or your builder follows building regulations and, where applicable, complies with HETAS and GAS SAFE regulations in the UK.
