A rare Smith and Wellstood antique stove named the President, a beautifully designed, well engineered and manufactured stove with a unique rotating fire basket which reduces the oxygen to the fire for overnight burning. Manufactured in 1868 believed to be to commemorate the visit to the Smith & Wellstood foundry in Bonnybridge Scotland by Jefferson Davis President of the confederate states of America, who visited and stayed with Smith in Bonnybridge Scotland. I was informed by the Esse Stove Museum, that they are only aware of three of these stoves in the UK. One is in the Esse Museum, one southern England and the third I have. The ease museum valued this at 5 times it's asking price here 4 years ago. I was hoping to keep it but havnt got the space. It is in lovely condition fantastic working order, rotating grate design , last picture shows rotated closed. MANY OTHER FIREPLACES AND SURROUNDS AVAILABLE. 4 inch oval to round Adapter included with some pipe. This item can be collected from Tarleton Nr Preston PR4. We use an independent trusted courier and have done for many years who normally covers the whole of the UK mainland on a 7 to ten day rolling cycle.
